SAMBA, Aug 1: Thieves targeted a house in Ward 3 of Samba city and stole cash worth about Rs 80 thousand and 4-5 tolas of Gold ornaments here on Thursday night.
All the members of the house had gone to a relative’s wedding function and at the time of the incident, no member was present at home. After this incident in the middle of the city, an atmosphere of fear has been created among the people. The owner of the house, Surinder Sethi Tony, said that on Thursday evening, he had gone to Jammu with his family to attend his niece’s wedding in Samba.
When he returned at around 1.30 in the night, he found all the household items scattered and the locks of the cupboard were broken. The police were informed about the matter, after which the police inspected the spot with the forensic team and collected clues.
He said that the thieves committed the theft by switching off the CCTV cameras installed in the house. He said that the thieves were fully aware that no member was at home. According to the owner, the thieves stole about 80 thousand rupees in cash and about 4 to 5 tola gold jewellery kept in his house.
Samba Police has registered a case and started further investigation. The local people have appealed to the senior police officials to solve the cases of previous thefts as soon as possible.
People have also demanded increased police patrolling at night in the city and other areas.
