JAMMU, May 21: A theft occurred at the Jogi Gate Cremation Ground on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, with a miscreant breaking into a room and looting the donation box kept inside. The incident came to light early Wednesday morning when the management found the door and the donation box forcibly opened. This marks the third such theft at the site and the second in the ongoing month.
According to cremation ground officials and locals, the same thief had struck about 15 days ago and was caught on CCTV. “We have submitted the footage to the Gujjar Nagar police post, but no arrest has been made so far,” a management member said.
Locals have raised concerns over the lack of security in the area despite repeated complaints and evidence provided to the police.
