JAMMU, July 25: City police today arrested a thief and recovered stolen cash and jewellery from her possession.
“On July 24, a woman Geeta Devi wife of Satinder Pal, resident of Dhariwal, Gurdaspur (Punjab) and at present living in Ward No 6, Ramgarh (Samba) lodged a written complaint at police post SMGS Hospital that her purse containing a cash amount of Rs 3600 and gold ornament (locket) weighing 2.9 grams had been stolen from SMGS Hospital, Jammu,” a police official said.
He said on the basis of the complaint, a case FIR number 55/2019 under Section 379 RPC was registered at police station City and investigation initiated. “During investigation, several suspects were rounded up and questioned, witnesses were examined and leads developed – based on which one person named Mehnaz Akhter wife of Farooq Ahmed Mughal, resident of Bill Gunthal, tehsil Surankot and district Poonch was apprehended,” he added.
The official said that on her disclosure, the stolen locket and cash were recovered from her possession. Further investigation is going on, he added.
