JAMMU, Sept 18: As part of the initiative to inform the Indian research stakeholders and its member States about the opportunities in European Union (EU), a thematic session was held at ‘The Business School’, University of Jammu.
The key resource person, Philippe de Taxis du Poet, Science Counsellor, Delegation of the European Union to India, made a presentation on ‘The European Union’s 7th Research Framework Programme’.
The deliberation showcased the EU flagship scheme in the research and innovation arena—the 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7), which is open to participation of researchers from across the world, including India, inviting bids from Indian research organizations, universities and industry as well as SMEs.
Earlier, Prof BC Sharma, Dean Students Placements, formally welcomed the EU delegate to the University of Jammu. In his introductory address, he laid down the importance of research in the changing scenario of placements. He further stated that in the world economy India was known for ‘nuts and bolts’ earlier but now it will be known as a ‘knowledge economy’.
