RAMBAN, Aug 23: Thieves struck about one dozen shops and residential houses in Maitra Ramban are here today following which cops rounded up several suspects for questioning.
Police sources informed that some unknown thieves committed thefts in eight shops, two residential houses and at a temple in Bakshi Mohallah and Maitra area.
In this connection written complaints were also lodged by some shopkeepers at Police Station Ramban stating that some unknown thieves broke locks of their shops in Maitra market and decamped with valuables.
Residents of Bakshi Mohallah said that unknown thieves committed theft in two residential houses and in a temple in their locality.
Asha Devi of Bakshi Mohallah said that they came to know about the theft in the morning when she found the doors of her brother’s house opened. She said thieves decamped with some cash and jewellery from her brother’s house.
Senior Police officers including ASP Ramban, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and DySP Headquarters, Om Prakash also visited the sites of theft for investigation.
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of BNS at Police Station Ramban and started investigation.
