Theft, robbery bids foiled by residents in Thannamandi

RAJOURI, Feb 25: Two attempted theft and robbery incidents were foiled by vigilant residents during the intervening night in Behrote area of Thannamandi, with police registering a case and launching a manhunt to nab the accused.
According to reports, a group of miscreants tried to steal a tractor battery in the locality. However, locals noticed suspicious movement and immediately rushed out of their houses. The accused were caught while removing the battery and the attempt was thwarted, but they managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
In another incident in the same area, a different group allegedly attempted to break into a shop with the intention of committing robbery. Once again, residents responded swiftly and overpowered the suspects. A brief scuffle ensued during which some locals sustained injuries after being assaulted by the miscreants. The injured were later shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The accused, however, fled from the spot.
Acting on the complaint, Police Station Thannamandi registered FIR NUMBER 17/2026 under sections 331(4), 305, 115(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Nadeem Khan, son of Mohd Kabir, a resident of Nerojal, and three unidentified persons. An FSL team was called to the scene to collect forensic evidence.
SDPO Thannamandi Parupkar Singh and SHO Thannamandi Inspector Sachinder Pal Singh said that the accused have been identified and assured that strict action will be taken against those involved. They added that investigation has been taken up and efforts are on to apprehend the accused at the earliest.
