MENDHAR, Sept 27: A burglary incident was reported today in Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district on Saturday, where thieves broke into a house and stole around 12 tolas of gold, valued at approximately Rs 12 lakh, along with Rs 30,000 in cash.
According to reports, the theft took place in Ward No. 4, Upper Gohlad, near Mendhar. The victim, Davinder Singh, said that he had left home around 9 AM for work and when he returned at about 12:30 PM, he found the house ransacked. The locker had been broke opened and the gold and cash were missing. He immediately informed the police, who reached the spot and inspected the scene.
Mendhar Police registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the culprits.
Meanwhile, locals expressed concern over the rising theft incidents in the area. They pointed out that this was the third such incident recently. Residents have urged the district SSP to take the matter seriously and ensure swift action to restore public confidence and curb the growing trend of thefts.
