Theft charges slapped on Mehraj, 5 others

JAMMU, Sept 7: In an embarrassing development for the Aam Admi Party (AAP), its only MLA in J&K has been booked for theft charges.
Police in Doda registered an FIR against the sitting MLA Mehraj Malik representing Doda-constituency and five others for theft of hospital equipments.

Sources informed that after BMO Thathri filed a complaint at Police Station Gandoh against the MLA and his five supporters, an FIR with number 90/2025 was registered under different Sections of BNS for charges of theft involving the hospital equipments and other belongings and for obstructing public servants in discharging their duty while shifting of AAM centre (a type of health centre), Kencha in Block Thathri.
The six persons named in the FIR were Mohd Shafi, Ghulam Ali, Shoaib Malik, Jaffer Hussain-all residents of Kencha, Kahara in Gandoh area of district Doda, Sufian Malik, resident of Malanoo, Kachara Gandoh and Mehraj Malik, resident of Tendla, Chilly Pingal, Gandoh.
The FIR also stated that the MLA along with five others obstructed the working of Rajat Parihar, MLHP at AAM Kencha and ANM Ghazala and took away the belongings of the health centre.
Sources informed that the MLA was forcing for shifting of the health centre to the residence of his favoured person.
