Theft cases worked out, stolen items recovered

JAMMU, Sept 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Peer Mittha area today claimed that they have solved two theft cases within days by arresting the accused and recovering stolen items worth about Rs 2.5 lakh from their possession.
A police official said on September 14, two FIRs were registered on the complaints of one Zahid Ali and Manzoor Ahmed, who reported theft of gas cylinder, a Coolpix L-20 camera, a Realme mobile phone, a Lenovo, and another HP laptop from their rooms.
Acting swiftly on these complaints, he said, a team from Police Station Peer Mittha, led by Inspector Raza Ali, and incharge Police Post Gujjar Nagar, PSI Zulfikar Ahmad, carried out investigations under the supervision of senior officers.
During the probe, the police official said, several suspects were rounded up for questioning.
He said one of them, identified as Arif Malik alias Sahib of Bazigar Basti, Bagh-e-Bahu, confessed to his involvement in the thefts during sustained questioning.
Following his disclosure, all stolen items were recovered from his possession, he added.
According to the police official, further investigation in the case is underway to ascertain the involvement of the accused in other similar cases.
