Theft case worked out

VIJAYPUR, Feb 22: With the arrest of one individual and recovery of a stolen car from his possession, police here today claimed to have worked out a theft case.
A police official said on January 28, 2026, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Vijaypur by one Sanjeev Choudhary son of Bachan Lal of Ward number 12, Vijaypur, reporting therein the theft of his Celerio vehicle (JK21H-0067) from his shed near Vishwakarma Mandir Vijaypur on the intervening night of January 27 and 28, 2026 by some unidentified person(s).
On this, he said, a case FIR number 18/2026 under sections 331(4), 305 BNS was registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation taken up.
After sustained investigation, a team from Police Station Vijaypur detained a suspect for questioning, who confessed to his involvement in the crime, he said.
Later, on the disclosure of the accused, identified as Rohit Slathia of Gurah Slathia, Vijaypur, the stolen car was recovered from his possession, the police official said.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway.
