JAMMU, Aug 19: Police in Janipur area claimed to have worked out a theft case by arresting one individual and recovering stolen property worth Rs 1 lakh from his possession.
A police official said on November 3, 2024, one Atul Gupta son of late Kundan Lal Gupta of Suraksha Vihar, Paloura, Janipur, lodged a police complaint, stating therein that some unidentified persons stole electric wire worth Rs 1 lakh from his residence.
Acting on the complaint, he said, a case FIR number 124/2024 was registered at Police Station Janipur and further investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, he said, the police team apprehended one Danish Masih of Sunder Nagar, Tallab Tillo, who confessed to his involvement in the crime.
On his disclosure, the stolen wire worth approximately Rs 1 lakh was recovered from his possession, added the police official.
The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of SHO Janipur Police Station, Inspector Vikram Sharma.
