Theft case solved; two held, stolen gold recovered

JAMMU, May 23: With the arrest of two individuals and recovery of stolen gold items from their possession, police in Jammu’s Janipur area today claimed to have solved a theft case.
A police official said on April 6, one Suresh Sharma reported a theft of gold item from his residence at Police Station Janipur.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 50/2025 under sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, one Deepak Kumar was arrested, who confessed to his involvement in the crime, and revealed that he had handed over the stolen gold to one Irfan Mehmood, said the police official.
Acting swiftly, he said, Irfan was arrested and a stolen gold chain was recovered from his possession.
The police official said that the investigation is still ongoing and further leads are being pursued.
Meanwhile, police have urged the general public to come forward with any information that may assist in the case.
