UDHAMPUR, May 30: Police have successfully solved a theft case involving 57 iron pillars stolen from an open land in Chabba Pachote village. The stolen property, meant for fencing purposes, has been fully recovered, and the accused has been taken into custody.
The case came to light on May 24 when Jagdish Raj, son of Duni Chand and a resident of Pachote Chabba, lodged a complaint at Police Station Kud. He reported the theft of 57 iron pillars from his land, following which an FIR (Number 19/2025) was registered.
Acting swiftly, a team from Police Station Kud, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), launched an investigation. The team scrutinized CCTV footage and other technical inputs, which led them to a suspicious auto-load carrier spotted near the crime scene around the time of the theft.
Further investigation helped the police to trace the vehicle of one Bittu Ram, son of Mohinder Kumar, also a resident of Pachote. He was called in for questioning and, during sustained interrogation, confessed to the crime.
Based on his disclosure, all 57 stolen iron pillars were recovered, marking a complete recovery of the stolen items. The case remains under further investigation.
