JAMMU, July 14: In a major achievement, Nowshera police has successfully solved a high-profile theft case within just 72 hours of its registration.
The operation led to the recovery of 120 grams of gold valued at approximately Rs 12 lakh and 530 grams of silver ornaments estimated to be worth Rs 65,000.
This recovery marks a significant blow to organized inter-state criminal gangs operating in the region The case was registered under FIR No. 90/2025 at Police Station Nowshera under Sections 305(A) and 331(3) of the BNS following a complaint regarding the theft of gold ornaments from a jewellery shop in the town.
Immediately after the registration of an FIR, a dedicated team was constituted by the police under the close supervision of SDPO Nowshera, Sahil Mahajan. The investigation was spearheaded by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Arjun Magotra who mobilized technical surveillance along with traditional field intelligence to trace the culprits.
SDPO said the sustained efforts of the police team resulted in the arrest of six individuals who were found to be part of a well-organized inter-state gang involved in similar crimes across Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. The arrested accused include Jaswant Singh, Raj Kumar, Gagan Kumar and Ritu– all residents of Fatehabad in Haryana; Seema Rani from Bathinda in Punjab and Poonam from Rajasthan.
Their interrogation is expected to shed further light on other unsolved theft cases in various regions.
SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar while lauding the efforts of the Nowshera police team stated that the prompt resolution of this case is a testimony to the professionalism commitment and capability of the district police force. He emphasized that Rajouri Police is fully committed to ensuring public safety and maintaining a zero-tolerance approach towards organized criminal activities.
