Before going into details about it, it is important to know what theatre means and to what extent it is of utmost importance that social responsibilities form an integral part of theatre productions.
Theatre may be defined as an artistic presentation that captivates you but at the same time inspires you as well. Not only the spectator but everyone connected within the production enjoys a strange feel during the entire process.
A good theatre play is defined as a production that speaks of the masses and exploits their problems. It has six vital components like Plot, Characters, Theme, Language, Music and Spectacle. It has been a potent form of expression since ages. When we talk of Theatre in Education and people are demanding that Theatre should be a subject from school level.
Theatre educates you and helps you to learn the basics of life to live a comfortable life. It also helps you to play pivotal role in making others’ life a worth because in this Global world we all are directly or indirectly connected to each other.
Theatre inspires.
In each production it has so much to offer, but one should learn to grab.
Street plays might have been a form of protest theatre, but the way these plays have advocated the problems being faced by masses and their genuine issues is an important contribution for welfare of society hardly matters whether it forces political and social set up to proceed towards better direction.
This is sheer influence of Theatre that such form of expression has always been explored to put forth own genuine opinion. These days even Government uses the services of Theatre activists to propagate their policies for the welfare of masses owing to impact of Theatre.
The point of concern is that to what extent we succeed in fulfilling our responsibilities towards masses through Theatre. Then I would like to add that ‘SCRIPT’ plays an important role in it. It should have such contents that should not only appeal to masses but should also aware them about the under current therein.
The repeated scripts need be replaced by fresh scripts revolving around contemporary issues. The old scripts find hardly any reference to today’s problems and do not succeed in making desired impact. The production should have something new and contemporary to mark an impression on spectators.
In present era, so many such Theatre plays are being staged across the country that has nothing to offer to society except short duration’s pleasure. That’s why these theatre plays don’t long for long and find no place in historical references. The reason is quite obvious that such productions rely on sex, worst Comedy, abuses and extinct within no time. The Theatre play should be thought provoking and such an inspiring one that the impact should not let the spectator to get rid of the impression for a long time.
What you serve to spectators depends upon you. The Theatre Lovers will welcome with open hands.
I wish to mention about an incident here. I have a pet Leo, a Rottweiler. One of my friends told me that his cousin had also a dog of same breed but as these are very aggressive he had to give that dog poison with Burfi to get rid of him. The poor fellow believed his master swallowed it without smelling even and died. I think the content gets conveyed through this incident more authentically.
Theatre is same. What you have been serving to Theatre lovers is your sole responsibility too.
It means whenever you are going to work on any production, to what extent the production will cast a spell on the audience should be a prime concern of everyone associated with production. In the veil of freedom of speech no one has right to ignore moral responsibilities towards masses.
