The jungle law

It is shocking that a large number of people from various parts of Jammu region came together to grab a large chunk of 3000 kanals of state land adjacent to Golf Course in Sidhra. It is something unprecedented. The large gathering came from Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Bhaderwah and other places, pitched over 250 tents on the said land and sat down to announce the grabbing of the land. It is a well planned conspiracy. No department reported the illegal occupation of the land and did not report even to the police. Earlier also, we had highlighted cases of illegal occupation of Forest land, Nazool land and other Government land. Is there a nexus between the authorities and the land grabbers? What right had these people coming from different parts of Jammu region to make a common cause for grabbing government land? If the police had not take the suo moto action, thanks to the initiative of concerned police authority, and dismantled the tents and evicted illegal occupants, they would have made a definite case for the seizure of the government land. This speaks of rebellious tendencies among the land grabbers particularly those involved in this case. No law abiding and law enforcing government can tolerate it. Our advice to the government is that very serious notice of this rebellious activity should be taken and the entire conspiracy should be exposed. Those who instigated the seditious act should be given severe punishment. Any complacency shown to them at this time will lead to a crisis which may engulf the wider segments of society. Land mafias are at the helm and enjoy support and patronage of some sections among the administration.
