SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Tsewang Tharchin today took over as Accountant General (Audit), of Jammu and Kashmir.
Tharchin, an officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service of the 2007 batch replaced K P, Yadaw who retired on superannuation on Oct 31.
Tharchin belongs to Ladakh and did his schooling from Ladakh. He holds a BA from Kashmir University. He has vast experience in handling audit of Government departments in J&K including audit of
Autonomous Bodies (ABs), PSUs and Local Bodies.
Before posting as AG, he worked as Dy Accountant General in J&K in May 2010 and then as Senior Dy Accountant General in October 2016.
Apart from audit, he has looked after compilation, preparation and submission of State Government accounts while working as Dy Accountant General in the office of Pr Accountant General (A&E), Punjab.
He also worked as Financial Advisor in National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in New Delhi from 2021 to 2024 and then as Principal Director in the office of Comptroller and Auditor General in India, New Delhi.
At the international level, Tharchin has conducted the Performance Audit of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva on deputation to the United Nations (UN).
In 2020, he was part of a team nominated for audit of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) at Sudan, on deputation with the United Nations.
He also led the audit of the Consulate General of India (CGI) Jeddah, Embassy of India, Riyadh and Embassy of India, Baghdad, Iraq and Air India Ltd, Riyadh and Air India Ltd, Dharan/Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
