BASOHLI, July 31: Tension gripped Loang town in remote Bani area of district Kathua today after two contractual lecturers of Govt Higher Secondary School Loang were allegedly found having some objectionable photographs of a school girl in the mobile phones.
The local boys who came to know about the act, forcibly entered the rented house of the lecturers Sohan Singh and Anup Sharma, both hailing from Basohli, at around 10 pm last night and snatched the mobile phones. About half a dozen youth who were covering their faces also beat up the teachers before they left the spot. The police came to know about the incident and picked up both the lecturers and took them into custody and later shifted to Bani Police Station.
In the morning, the students of Higher Secondary School boycotted their classes and came out on the road to lodge their protest. The locals also joined the protest. The market was also closed and people held protest demonstration demanding strict action against the lecturers of Mathematics and Computer Science. The communal tension gripped the area as the girl belonged to the other community.
Later, SDPO Basohli Mohd Rafiq reached there and held meeting with the prominent persons and agitating students. The police seized the Mobile phones having MMS of the girl.
The SDPO said that after holding meeting involving members from both the communities the situation was defused. He said that both the teachers have been booked in the offence and further investigation has been launched. The concerned higher authorities have also been communicated about the act of the lecturers.
