Group secures landslide victory

Srinagar, Oct 6: The Javid Ahmad Tenga-led group today swept the elections of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), securing 20 of the 21 seats in the executive committee.
As per the results of the voting, which began at 10 in the morning, Tenga emerged as the top vote-getter among 30 contestants with 464 votes.
He was followed by Ashiq Hussain Shangloo with 457 votes and Umer Nazir Tibetbaqal with 452 votes.
The Tenga panel, named Hope21, made a near-clean sweep, with several of its candidates featuring among the top scorers.
Faiz Ahmad Bakshi secured 445 votes, Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi 443 votes, Altaf Ahmad Tramboo 430 votes, and Ghulam Nabi Bhat 429 votes, among other prominent winners from the camp.
Farooq Ahmad Kuttoo secured 423 votes, Showkat Ahmad Pakhtoon 422 votes, Amir Manzoor Guna 421 votes, and Mohammad Ibrahim Siah 421 votes also secured comfortable wins.
The contest tightened in the lower ranks, where Muzaffar Majid Jan secured 416 votes, Irfaan Ahmad Guju 403 votes, Mohammad Latief Bhat 402 votes, and Afaq Sarwar Malik 398 votes made the cut, along with Tariq Ahmad Dar 398 votes, Zubair Mahajan 396 votes, Abid Hussain Pandith 368 votes, Touseef Ahmad Bhat 366 votes, and Akib Chaya 350 votes.
Those who missed out on a place in the executive body included Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh with 307 votes, Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon 241 votes, Sheikh Feroz Ahmad Sidiq 182 votes, Abdul Wahid Malik 158 votes, Mohmad Akram Siah 131 votes, Adil Hussain 119 votes, Majid Aslam Wafai 99 votes, Syed Ehsan Javaid 96 votes, and Sheikh Suhail Ahmad 28 votes.
The polls, conducted under the supervision of the District Administration Srinagar, witnessed an impressive voter turnout.
With the executive committee now elected, the next phase will see the selection of office-bearers, including the President, Senior and Junior Vice Presidents, Secretary General, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer.
Pertinently, Tenga is widely tipped to retain the presidency.
