SUNDERBANI, June 20: Acting swiftly on a complaint, against a local resident, who allegedly buried a natural drinking water source (Bowali) with soil to convert the area into a personal field.
Tehsildar Siot, Daljeet Singh, along with Naib Tehsildar K D Sharma and Patwari Mohd Shafiq of Halqa Siot, reached the location and confirmed the encroachment.
The action was taken and the buried Bowali in village Channi, Tehsil Siot, was reopened using a JCB machine to remove the dumped soil.
The matter came to light after residents of Channi submitted a written complaint to the Tehsildar of Siot, accusing one Sanjay Sharma, son of Durga Dass, of encroaching on a Government-owned water body by dumping soil over it.
The water source, located under Khasra Number 376 near Gair Mumkin Kassi, was reportedly covered to create private agricultural land.
Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Daljeet Singh warned that strict legal action would be taken in the future against anyone found encroaching on state or government land.
He urged the public to help in protecting natural resources and to report any illegal activity immediately.
The villagers of Channi expressed their gratitude to the administration for taking timely action and restoring the precious water source, especially during this intense summer season.
