JAMMU, Oct 24: A 19-year-old girl ended her life by hanging with a ceiling fan at her residence at Keri area of Tehsil Bhalwal falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gharota today, officials said.
Preeti Devi daughter of Pravu Dayal of Keri, Tehsil Bhalwal, was spotted hanging with a ceiling fan using a dupatta at her residence by her parents around 12 PM today, they said.
She was taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kot Bhalwal, where doctors declared her as dead on arrival, officials said.
Later, her body was shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College Jammu for conducting the post-mortem examination, they said. Meanwhile, police have initiated inquest proceedings under section BNS 194 to ascertain the reasons as to why she took such an extreme step to end her life.
