JAMMU, Oct 4: Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh, emphasized the timeless relevance of Guru Ravidass Ji’s life and teachings, calling them a beacon of social equality, spiritual awareness, and inner strength.
He expressed these views while receiving a copy of “Raidass Vandana” composed by Balbir Ram Rattan.
Dr. Jitendra Singh praised the literary work as not only inspirational but also deeply meaningful in promoting the ideals of a just and inclusive society.
The composition “Raidass Vandana” presents his values and teachings in a literary and poetic form, reflecting the spiritual depth and progressive thought of the 15th-century saint. Dr. Singh noted that such efforts help bring the teachings of great saints closer to the people, especially the younger generation, in a culturally rich and accessible manner.
This is not merely a literary work, Dr. Singh said, “but a sincere and impactful attempt to spread social awareness and spiritual consciousness. Guru Ravidas Ji’s message goes beyond religion, it speaks of human dignity, self-respect, and unity, which are essential even today.
Dr. Singh also stressed the importance of literature and culture as vehicles for preserving the thoughts of saints, sages, and reformers. Through such cultural expressions, we build a bridge between generations and preserve our rich philosophical and spiritual heritage, he said.
On the occasion, Balbir Ram Rattan, the composer of “Raidass Vandana”, shared his motivation behind the work. He said his primary aim is to bring Guru Ravidass Ji’s message to the broader public through his writing. He said that this composition is a humble offering dedicated to Guru Ravidass and a small effort to carry forward his ideals.
