RAJOURI, Feb 28: The teaching staff of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, has gone on pen down strike following the suspension of Dr Parvez Abdullah, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies and president of the Teachers’ Association.
The suspension, reportedly approved by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has sparked widespread protests among the University’s teaching faculty.
Dr Abdullah was not only suspended but also attached to the Nursing College of BGSBU in Kishtwar.
Claiming he has been unfairly targeted, staff has launched a pen-down strike, which has received overwhelming support from his colleagues. The faculty members allege that the suspension is part of a well-planned conspiracy against hardworking members of the teaching staff.
According to sources, the staff held meeting with University Administration and has decided that if the suspension and attachment order are not revoked, they will begin a hunger strike from Monday, a move that is expected to intensify the ongoing agitation.
The situation remains tense, and the university administration has yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.
