SRINAGAR, Oct 26: More than a dozen employees of the School  Education Department  were taken into preventive custody when they  tried to stage a protest outside Civil Secretariat, here today,   against the  alleged non-seriousness  of the State Government to address their demands.
The protesting  employees assembled in front  of the Civil Secretariat  under the banner of  Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) and started shouting anti-Government slogans in support of their demands, including release of salaries  of teachers engaged under various Centrally-sponsored schemes like  SSA and RMSA and pay anomaly of Masters.
Police immediately swung into action and detained over a dozen employees,  including the chairman of the Forum Abdul Qayoom Wani, who is also president of Employees Joint Action Action Committee.

He warned to further intensify the agitation and organized a State wide protest on November 16 if pending salary of the teachers under SSA and RMSA is not released by November 15.
Mr Wani also urged the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar to personally intervene into the matter and ensure that pending salary of the teachers is released.
Others, who addressed the gathering, included Gh Rasool Bhat and  Mohammad Afzal Bhat.
