JAMMU, Feb 8: A programme on the theme “NEP 2020 Se Viksit Bharat 2047” was organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) at the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu today.
Academicians, professors, teachers and other education stakeholders participated in large numbers.
Gulshan Raina, State General Secretary ABRSM, welcomed the invited dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Narayan Lal Gupta, National President ABRSM and chief spokesperson said teachers are the main messengers of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
He said NEP-2020 provides a strong foundation for building an inclusive, innovative and globally competitive education system in line with the vision of a developed India by 2047.
He stressed that adaptability to change is a key feature of the policy and highlighted the importance of the Indian knowledge system.
Prof Gupta also underlined the focus of NEP-2020 on holistic education, multidisciplinary learning, critical thinking, skill development and integration of traditional knowledge with modern pedagogy.
Chief Guest V S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, spoke on major aspects of NEP-2020, including curricular flexibility, research and innovation, use of technology, teacher empowerment and strengthening of higher education institutions.
He emphasised the need for effective implementation of the policy at the ground level to achieve its desired outcomes.
Other speakers shared their views on how NEP-2020 can transform learning experiences and create new opportunities for creativity, entrepreneurship and lifelong learning. Interactive sessions were also held, focusing on implementation strategies and the collective role of institutions, educators and students.
Rattan Sharma, State President ABRSM J&K, presented a vote of thanks. Dev Raj Thakur, National Joint Secretary ABRSM, and Darshan Bharti, National Media Prakosht Pramukh, were also present.
