Teachers hold convention, demand revocation of SRO 66

KATHUA, Mar 10: A one -day teachers’ convention was held here, today under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum.
The convention was presided over by A Q Wani president Employees Joint Action Committee and State chairman JKTF along with Ganesh Khajuria State general secretary JKTF.
A large number of members of teachers’ fraternity attended the convention and demanded revocation of SRO 66 and opposed the screening test for teachers.
The speakers in the convention condemned the draconian and anti teachers SRO 66 regarding screening test for distance mode degree holders for next promotions and demanded immediate withdrawal of the illegal SRO by terming it as stigma on the face of Education Department.
JKTF general secretary Ganesh Khajuria in his address asked the teachers to be untied and make JKTF stronger, and vibrant at the gross route level to protect the rights of the employees of Education Department in general and teachers in particular.
A Q Wani in his address condemned the SRO issued by Administrative Department and termed it as quite contrary to the rules and regulations of the Department. “This order is a challenge to the credibility of the recognized and prestigious universities of the State in particular and other recognized universities at national level in general”, he added.
He said the order has been issued to disrespect the teaching community which is unacceptable to them and the Forum will fight it tooth and nail. He said the Forum had submitted a 20 point charter of demands to Education Minister, Mohammed Altaf Bukhari who has assured that the order will be revoked.
