RAJOURI, July 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), affiliated with the All India Secondary Teachers Federation (AISTF), today raised serious concerns over inordinate delay in the issuance of the Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) list for Teachers and Masters of Jammu Province.
Addressing a press conference, here today, JKTF District President Rajouri, Gulshan Sharma along with State Senior Vice President Rifaqat Hussain Malik and UT Senior Vice Chairman Mohd Mahroof Choudhary, urged the School Education Department (SED) to release the long-awaited transfer list without any further delay.
Rifaqat Hussain Malik expressed disappointment over the lack of timely implementation of the ATD policy. He emphasized that hundreds of teachers and masters currently serving in far-flung and hard zones of Jammu Province have been eagerly waiting for their genuine transfer requests to be considered as per norms and guidelines issued by the department.
Mohd Mahroof Choudhary said that the delay in the release of the ATD list is causing widespread discontent among the teaching community, particularly those who have completed their tenure in difficult and remote areas. “It is unfortunate that despite the assurances given by the authorities, the ATD list is still pending, which has created unnecessary mental stress and anxiety among the educators and their families,” he stated.
Gulshan Sharma said that the annual transfer mechanism is not just a routine administrative exercise but a crucial tool for maintaining the motivation and mental well-being of teachers. He further urged the department to ensure transparency and fairness in the transfer process, and to take immediate steps to address the long-pending grievances of teachers who are serving in hardship areas.
The JKTF leaders warned that if the ATD list is not released in the coming days, the Teachers Forum may be compelled to launch a UT-wide protest campaign in solidarity with the affected teaching staff.
