JAMMU, Aug 12: Highlighting the grievances and issues of teaching community, J&K Teachers Co-ordination Committee has threatened to adopt the path of agitation if genuine demands of the fraternity are not conceded.
Addressing a press conference, here today, the representatives of different organizations, working under the banner of J&K Teachers Co-ordination Committee, announced to hold strong protest demonstration on August 19, near Press Club Jammu if the Government does not take immediate decision for extending 7th Pay Commission benefits to the Teachers and Masters working under SSA.
Taking strong exception to alleged step-motherly attitude of the State Government towards teachers working under SSA/RMSA schemes as far as implementation of 7th Pay Commission in their respect is concerned, the Committee members observed that denial of such benefits was not only apathetic but discriminatory as well as against the principle of equal pay for equal work.
Further, they added, salaries of the SSA/RMSA teachers are not disbursed timely as the State Government is dilly-delaying to de-link their salary from the Central funding sources.
The Co-ordination Committee also highlighted other issues and demands of the teaching community, which include removal of pay anomalies, transparent transfer policy, repatriation of those Masters who have completed their tenure in remote areas, DPC of different cadres, revival of old pension scheme and regularization of all Incharge Lecturers, Headmasters, ZEOs and Principals.
The Committee members appealed Governor N N Vohra for his personal intervention to get their genuine issues addressed at the earliest, otherswise they would have no option other than to adopt agitational path.
The press conference was addressed by Hari Singh, Satish Dutta, Yonus Rahi, Maheshwar Prashad, Amarnath Thakur, Mrignayani Slathia and Jasmeet Singh, representing J&K United School Teachers Association, J&K Government Teachers forum , JKSSA Teachers forum, All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation, School Education Employees Co-ordination committee, All Teachers Association J&K and Teachers Welfare Association.
