UDHAMPUR, Nov 8: The teaching community in district Udhampur celebrated Diwali festival without salary.
Not only from district Udhampur, but the teaching community from the entire region feel demoralized for not getting its salary till date. On the occasion of Diwali, they failed to come up to the expectations of their children and make purchases for them on the festival.
On Dhanteras and Diwali, most of the Govt departments have released the salary of their employees. Only Education department failed to release their salary in time. This was happening for the last few years.
Sources said that at present there are four categories of employees. Teachers/ head teachers serving under SSA are suffering from this problem. Those employees who come under surplus category due to wrong policies of the Administration they are also deprived of the their wages.
In this category, unnecessary deployments have been made to absorb blue eyed people. They are working in city headquarter specially Jammu city and drawing salary from rural area posts. On one hand, they are taking just one period/ class as strength of teachers is much more there as per required strength but on the other hand, they are playing with the future of students of rural area. These teachers have been deployed for the last 1-5 years. Third category included some masters / lecturers working in district jails who have not received their salary for three months inspite of clear directions from higher authorities. The 4th category is of regular teachers/ masters/ lecturers who could not get their salary to celebrate Diwali.
They have sought intervention of the Governor SP Malik to steamline derailed Education system in the State.
