SRINAGAR, Aug 10: CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami, has urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to take immediate steps for the reopening of tourist destinations in Budgam district, including Doodhpathri, Tosamaidan, Yousmarg, Nilnag and other scenic locations.
The MLA said a deputation from the area recently met him and requested him to raise their demand with the authorities.
“These tourist spots are not just scenic attractions but vital sources of livelihood for many locals, including stall owners, drivers, ponywalas and others. Their prolonged closure has severely impacted the incomes of these people,” he said.
MLA Kulgam said closure has hit livelihoods of locals, who seek immediate revival of destinations like Doodhpathri, Yousmarg and Tosamaidan.
He appealed to the Government at least allow local tourists to visit these destinations, stressing that Doodhpathri, Nilnag and Yousmarg in particular should be reopened without delay.
“The LG must look into the matter seriously and ensure that these places are made accessible to visitors again, so that the affected families can resume their means of earning,” Tarigami added.
