SRINAGAR, July 15: MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami, chaired a high-level review meeting at the Directorate of Agriculture, Lalmandi (Srinagar) today.
The meeting focused on strategic planning and holistic development of the sector, with a particular emphasis on the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and strengthening of market linkages to benefit farmers in the region.
Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, presented a comprehensive PowerPoint briefing highlighting the ongoing initiatives, sectoral challenges and future goals. The presentation laid particular emphasis on innovation, farmer empowerment, and sustainable agricultural growth as the cornerstones of development. It underscored the need to build resilient farming systems, introduce modern agri-technologies and ensure long-term benefits for farming communities.
The session witnessed participation from several senior dignitaries and key stakeholders, including Farooq Ahmad Dar, Managing Director HPMC; Jeelani Zargar, Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing; and Vikas Anand, Director Horticulture Kashmir. Also in attendance were Joint Directors, senior officers from concerned departments, and prominent senior citizens from the constituency.
Tarigami reiterated the critical role of institutional collaboration and grassroots engagement in realizing the full potential of the constituency’s agri-horticultural resources. He emphasized that coordinated planning and inclusive implementation would be pivotal in transforming Kulgam into a model constituency for agricultural excellence.
The meeting concluded on a note of shared resolve among all stakeholders to accelerate the execution of planned initiatives and ensure visible and lasting benefits for farming communities across the region.
