Maintaining that elections will come and go, Tarigami said the paramount is unity of people and prevalence of age old brotherhood in the State. He, while expressing serious concern over the aftermath of Pulwama terrorist attack said some fringe elements tried to disturb peace in Jammu and administration should have taken precautionary measures by deploying forces in sensitive areas to frustrate the designs of such elements.
The CPI (M) leader however praised the people of Jammu saying that they deserve all appreciation as despite attempts by these fringe elements they did not pay attention to the same and gave preference to age old brotherhood and peace. They remained calm despite provocations, he added.
Tarigami said Jammu city has a role to play in preserving the unity of the State which it has done in the past. Despite the pressure at different junctures Jammu remained calm and maintained peace. Highlighting the relation of two regions of the State Jammu and Kashmir, Tarigami said both the regions are interdependent on trade and other activities.
He said it has remained the agenda of the people of Jammu that how best we can win over the people of Kashmir to ensure isolation of extremist elements but unfortunately secretarian political elements in both sides tried to hamper such efforts in both the regions.
He said what happened in the aftermath of Pulwama attack that Kashmiri students became targets of hate campaign and such actions are condemnable. It is shameful that some elements want to disrupt the unity of people, he added.
Tarigami said the political parties and social groups should play their positive role and isolate these fringe elements.
He also appealed the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi not to maintain silence but openly condemn such acts. He said the resolution passed in all parties meet organised by Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh has not been implemented and the same be implemented without delay.
