JAMMU, Sept 19: Reiterating that terrorism cannot be weeded out by tourism and Jihadi war cannot be defeated by propaganda of normalcy, Panun Kashmir (PK) calls for decisive action to weed out terrorism from the J&K and destroy its entire support structure.
Talking to reporters here, today, PK chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo asked Government of India (GOI) what is the reason of killing of security personnel at regular intervals by the terrorists particularly when Government does not spare any day in stating that terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is in its last days?
Chrungoo, who was flanked by PK general secretary, Kuldeep Riana and its senior leaders Bihari Lal Koul and Raj Nath Raina said they are deeply shocked by the killing of security personnel at regular intervals and urged the Government to realise the gravity of the situation before it is too late.
He wanted to know that was the reason of encounters with terrorists lasting for days and even weeks?
“We also ask Government to take people into confidence whether the incidents of gruesome terrorist violence against security forces have been result of encounters or ambushes”, Chrungoo asked?
“We are baffled to notice that terrorists have been able to inflict disproportionately heavy cost and it seems that basic standard operating procedures are being ignored”, he added.
He said people wanted to know what have been the reasons for security failures recently and who is responsible?
He said colossal security failures in J&K seem to have been ignored because there is a manifest absence of accountability. Who was responsible for disarming VDCs when GoI, he asked?
GoI should provide answers instead of hollow assurances, he said, adding after every security failure Government goes on an overdrive to tell people that nefarious designs of Pakistan are responsible for the deterioration and the increased terrorist activity is the result of frustration of terrorists.
He asked does GoI believe that people are stupid and gullible and that mere propaganda management will help in diffusing the situation.
He said it is time GoI sees clearly and feels deeply our concerns. People on the ground are asking the question that if terrorists can engage security forces for protracted time in military like operations and inflict casualties then they can easily inflict more damage on soft civilian targets. The terrorist regimes can easily kill Hindus who recently were forced to return. Terrorists can also inflict violence against tourists, he added.
He asked “How long will GoI delay recognising that it is not face to face with isolated acts of some terrorists but it is face to face with a war form which its protagonists call Jihad”?.;
