UDHAMPUR, May 24: Senior Trade Union leader and president Jal Shakti/PHE Employees and Workers Association Udhampur, Som Nath has said that Government must take decision on the release of pending wages of the daily wagers and Minimum Wages Act.
Addressing executive body meeting of the Association at PHE Complex, Udhampur today Som Nath said that the daily wagers are badly suffered due to the Govt’s apathy. The Govt framed the committee for daily wagers issues but for pending wages, minimum wages Act there is no role of the said committee. The Govt is befooling the daily wagers since long.
He alleged that the higher authorities in Jal Shakti Department from Executive Engineer to Chief Engineer are not discussing the shortage of employees. They are afraid to put their voice for shortage of staff. The JJM schemes need employees for smooth functioning of water supply. The existing staff is not sufficient. He said for the working of JJM new staff should be appointed.
Som Nath strongly projected the demand of regularization of daily wagers/CP/ITI/land case workers. He said all those who have completed seven years of service be regularized.
He further demanded that pending 70 months’ wages of the PHE workers be released without any more delay. Referring to the Minimum Wages Act he said UT of Ladakh has implemented the same but J&K UT has failed to implement the same.
Trade Union leader further said that there is acute shortage of staff to run the new water supply schemes. The Government must recruit new staff and also regularize the old employees.
Som Nath appealed the Govt to fulfill the genuine demands of the daily wagers.
Senior members–Vijay Kumar Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Karan Singh, Mohan Singh, Puran Chand, Prabhu Lal, Makhan Chand, Shambu Nath, Tilk Raj Katoch were also present on the occasion.
