*Jora demands check on exorbitant airfares

JAMMU, Mar 22: National Conference MLA, Devender Singh Rana today urged the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take up with Union Government the issue of charging of Toll Tax by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) at Ban Talab near Nagrota.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Legislative Assembly, Mr Rana said, “charging of Toll Tax even without completion of entire widening work from Jammu to Srinagar is unjustified”, adding “not only daily commuters even the pilgrims and tourists are being subjected to unnecessary burden by the National Highway Authority of India”.
He urged the Chief Minister, who was present in the House, to take up the matter with the Central Government for stopping the operation of Toll Plaza till the completion of entire widening work from Jammu to Srinagar.
Congress Legislature Party leader, Nawang Rigzin Jora demanded a regulatory authority to maintain the air fare in the State. He urged the Government to take up the issue with the Union Government to maintain the air fare and to safeguard the interests of passengers.
BJP MLA Rajiv Jasrotia expressed concern on the illegal mining in Ravi River in Kathua district and demanded complete ban to save the environment. He also alleged well knit nexus between Geology and Mining Department, contractors and Police Department, adding “Industries Minister, who is well aware of all this, should intervene personally and take necessary action”.
Mohammad Khalil Band demanded strengthening of Fruit Mandi Pulwama while as Main Altaf Ahmad demanded early repair of damaged transformers of his constituency. Dina Nath Bhagat drew the attention of the Government towards shortage of teaching staff, grim power situation and dilapidated road conditions in Chenani constituency.
Mohammad Akbar Lone raised the issue of defunct pumping stations in Sonawari area and demanded improved power supply to make these pump stations functional. Ch Mohd Akram demanded adequate medicare facilities in all health institutions in his constituency.
Shakti Parihar demanded expeditious repair of road infrastructure damaged due to recent rains and floods in erstwhile Doda. He also sought compensation for those who suffered loss due to floods.
Javid Ahmad Rana demanded speedy measures to provide relief and rehabilitation to flood victims of his constituency.
Rajesh Gupta called for upgradation of infrastructure in old Jammu city for the convenience of local people and tourists. He also sought appropriate steps for smooth regulation of traffic in city.
Altaf Ahmad Wani demanded finalization of Master Plan for Pahalgam Development Authority enabling the people to undertake repairs of their homes.
Javid Hassan Beigh raised the issue of landslides/sinking in various areas of Baramulla recently and demanded a survey to assess the losses to property and providing relief and rehabilitation to the sufferers due to this natural disaster. Sham Lal Choudhary demanded immediate compensation for the farmers of his Constituency whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains. He said that during recent rains farmers suffered a lot.
Sayed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi demanded air lifting of students from Jammu to Leh. Bashir Ahmad Dar demanded strengthening of PHE and health infrastructure in Kupwara. Mubarak Gul demanded strengthening of health services in Srinagar city.
Sat Paul Sharma raised the issue of Rehbar-e-Zirat and demanded early regularization of Jammu based Rehbar-e-Zirat workers. Devender Manyal demanded immediate repair and renovation of National Highway at Samba. Mir Zahoor Ahmad demanded speedy compensation for saffron growers who suffered loss to their crops during September floods.
G M Saroori demanded immediate steps for restoration of damaged infrastructure due to rains in erstwhile Doda. Abdul Majeed demanded speedy steps for dewatering in his constituency. Sheikh Ishfaq Ahmad demanded up gradation of Behama-Nagbal road. He also requested for providing compensation to two casual labours of PDD working in his constituency, who were injured due to electric shock while performing their duties.
Mohammad Amin demanded immediate relief to the farmers of his constituency whose crops were damaged due to heavy snow and rains. R S Pathania demanded immediate repairs of damaged transformers of his constituency. Vikar Rasool Wani demanded immediate filling up of posts of teachers in the constituency.
Jeevan Lal, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, Deldan Namgyal, Shah Mohammad Tantray, Asgar Ali Karbalie also raised the issues of public importance pertaining to their areas.
