Swami Mirzakak Jayanti celebrated with fervour, gaiety

ANANTNAG, M ay 23: The birth anniversary of Swami Mirzakak a mystic saint of medieval Kashmir was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety today.
In this connection functions were held at Swami Ji’s original Samadhi at village Hangalgund in South Kashmir district of Anantnag and at Swami Ji’s Nagrota Asthapan near here.
A large number of devotees attended these religious functions to pay obeisance to Swami Ji who is popularly known as Kak Ji.
Maha Yagyas were solemnized at both the religious places by the devotees. At Nagrota the function was organised by Swami Mirzakak Trust led by Bushan Lal Hangloo. The Hawan started yesterday evening which culminated with Puran Ahuti this afternoon. This was followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
The bhajan Kirtan was held in the Nagrota Asthapan as well as at Hangalgund shrine for entire day today by the devotees. At Nagrota, Asthapan, Rajesh Handoo and Party and Santosh Shah Nadan, a renowned poetess sang bhajans.
Swami Kumar Ji and other dignitaries also participated in the function.
At Kokernag besides the devotees from Jammu, the KP employees at Vessu and other places attended the function. The Trust members including Dwarika Nath Bhat, Sohan Lal and B L Hangloo were also present.
The function was also attended by MLA Kokernag , Abdul Rahim Rather.
On the occasion, Mr Rather laid the foundation stone of Yatri Bhavan in the premises of holy shrine at Hanglagund.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that Yatri Bhavan was a long pending demand of the Pandit community and it would come up at a place which is known for communal harmony and brotherhood.
He assured the people that Hangulgund will be developed on modern lines and all demands of the area would be met in a time bound manner.
