JAMMU, Apr 2: Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) Charitable Hospital has conducted a critical and life-saving emergency limb salvage vascular procedure, further strengthening its position as a provider of advanced and timely healthcare services in the region.
A 65-year-old male patient presented with a limb-threatening ischemic condition of the upper limb caused by a long segment thrombus, leading to severely compromised blood circulation.
Considering the emergent nature of the condition, a team of specialists led by Dr Arvind Kohli, CT & Vascular Surgeon and Medical Director, promptly undertook the procedure and successfully removed the thrombus, thereby restoring adequate perfusion to the affected limb and averting imminent limb loss. Dr Kohli was supported by Dr Anil Sharma, Cardiologist.
While briefing about the case, Dr Kohli stated that limb-threatening ischemia constitutes a vascular emergency wherein timely intervention is of utmost importance, as delay may result in irreversible damage or loss of limb. He further added that the Hospital is progressively augmenting its acute care capabilities to make such advanced vascular interventions readily available to the patients.
Amar Chand Gupta, president, reiterated the Institution’s unwavering commitment to its guiding motto “Nar Seva, Narayan Seva,” and stated that the Hospital shall continue to provide quality, specialized, and affordable healthcare services to all sections of society, particularly the underprivileged.
BS Jamwal, general secretary, stated that the Institution is continuously working towards strengthening its healthcare delivery system with emphasis on efficiency, accessibility, and patient-centric services.
Dr Rabinder Rattan Pal, Medical Superintendent, highlighted the expanding spectrum of patient care facilities at the Hospital and reaffirmed the Institution’s commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care.
