MOSCOW, Mar 6: The administration of US President Donald Trump believes that the halt of US aid to Ukraine may not last long, The New York Times has reported.
Officials in the administration told the newspaper that there is a possibility that the pause in support may be over relatively quick if Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepts the terms set by the White House and President Donald Trump.
Talks between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington on Friday collapsed following their verbal altercation in front of reporters in the Oval Office. The Ukrainian leader was criticized for his alleged lack of gratitude for US aid and disrespectful behavior in the White House.
On Tuesday, Fox News reported, citing a senior White House official, that the US had suspended all military aid to Ukraine until Trump saw that Kiev was seriously committed to holding the peace talks. White House senior advisor Jason Miller later said that Trump had halted military aid shipments to Ukraine as part of his “carrot and stick” strategy to end the three-year conflict with Russia.
