Suspect nabbed from Pir Mitha

JAMMU, Aug 24: Kishtwar and Jammu Police picked up a suspect from a rented house in Pir Mitha area of Jammu City this morning.
There was no confirmation of the detention either by Kishtwar or Jammu Police.
However, reports said that Shahnawaz of Patimohalla in Kishtwar district, who was working in a paints shop and putting up in a rented house at Pir Mitha in Jammu City was detained by a team of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Kishtwar Police this morning with the assistance of Jammu Police.
He was immediately whisked away to Kishtwar by the SOG team for questioning.
However, it couldn’t be ascertained immediately in which case he was wanted but, according to sources, his name had figured during interrogation of three recently arrested fresh recruits of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
Sources said that he has been detained for questioning and things will be clear only after that.
Three militants, who had recently joined the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit, were arrested by Kishtwar Police ahead of Independence Day celebrations along with large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives.
It may be mentioned here that militant outfits and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are making desperate attempts to revive militancy in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch districts .
During past few days, security forces have busted several militant modules in different districts of the Jammu region and foiled plans to target vital installations and crowded areas.
Ahead of Independence Day, Jammu Police had arrested four top militants and thwarted series of subversive activities including motor cycle IED plot. Four sticky bombs were also recovered in Mendhar besides Rs 25 lakh worth hawala money.
