AKHNOOR, Mar 18: Senior BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member, Pandit Suresh Sharma here today inaugurated two newly installed hand pumps at Laleyal Mohalla of Panchayat Choura in Block Chowki Choura and the famous Naunath Temple. The initiative, completed at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh, fulfills a long-pending demand of the locals.
Lack of drinking water in these areas was a persistent challenge, especially at Naunath Devasthan, which attracts hundreds of devotees every year.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC member emphasized the ongoing efforts under Jal Jeevan Mission, where water projects worth over Rs. 100 crore are being executed at a rapid pace in Block Maira Mandrian and Chowki Choura.
He assured that most of these projects are nearing completion, promising much-needed relief from water shortage.
Sharma also reiterated commitment to install hand pumps in areas where groundwater availability permits, ensuring that no locality suffers from lack of clean drinking water.
Former Sarpanch Ramesh Lal, former Chairman Krishna Lal, Gyan Singh, Shankar Lal, Vijay Kumar, Tilak Raj, Chunni Lal, Ashok Kumar, Subhash Chandra, Om Prakash, Rampal and several officials were also present on the occasion.
