Surankote neglected on all front: Shahnawaz

POONCH, May 8: Surankote Assembly constituency has been neglected on all fronts including political process, development and social inclusion.

This was stated by Mohd Shahnawaz Choudhary, president, Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) during week long tour of the border district of Poonch.
Shahnawaz Choudhary said that basic services like electricity, water supply, health care, school education and road connectivity are badly hit in Surankote constituency due to political and official apathy. He said that the Government has been making tall claims, but nothing has been done till date for the upliftment of the residents of Surankote.
Choudhary said that despite projects of crores of rupees the condition of main roads is utterly dilapidated while those proposed for rural interiors years ago are still on the papers only.
He said that virtual lockdown of various middle and primary schools due to lack of prolonged absence of teaching staff is also a matter of concern.
He asked for departmental inquiry to fix the responsibility for depriving thousands of families of the electricity supply.
Choudhary, while interacting with patients at Surankote hospitals found that the hospitals are without basic essential equipments and are reeling under shortage of adequate doctors and other support staff.
During his meeting with Deputy Commissioner Poonch and other senior officers of the administration, he apprised them about the plight of people of Surankote constituency.
Among others present were Sarpanchs Mohd Riaz, Mohd Arif, Maroof Khan, Kabir Malik, Aslam Gorsi, Hamid Choudhary, Haji Latief, Wali Mohd, Shabir Ahmed, Qadir Baig and Haji Farooq.
