JAMMU, Dec 31: To discuss the public issues related to the long-pending bifurcation and revision of Ration Cards in J&K UT, Sunil Prajapati, incharge BJP OBC Morcha today called on the Minister of State (MoS) for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Nimuben Bambhaniya.
During the meeting, Prajapati submitted a detailed memorandum to the MoS, highlighting that the people of Jammu & Kashmir have been facing grave difficulties and social embarrassment due to the non-bifurcation and non-revision of Ration Cards for the last 8-10 years.
He informed that Ration Cards in J&K were last reviewed and bifurcated during 2015-16 as per Census 2011 and no comprehensive revision has taken place thereafter.
Prajapati pointed out that over the years, many families have been separated from the head of the family and a large number of children have been born into existing families.
However, due to the absence of revision and bifurcation of Ration Cards, these changes have not been reflected in official records, resulting in denial of rightful food entitlements to many eligible beneficiaries.
As a consequence, thousands of families, particularly from economically weaker and OBC sections, are suffering adversely.
The BJP leader strongly urged the Minister to intervene and take immediate steps in this issue, so that the genuine difficulties of the affected people are resolved.
The MoS, Nimuben Bambhaniya gave a patient hearing to the issues raised and assured Sunil Prajapati that she would personally call the concerned State/UT officials and ensure that the issue of revision and bifurcation of Ration Cards is sorted out within one month.
