JAMMU, July 30: Awards amounting Rs. 2 lakh were received by 29 children of Harbans Roshan Bhalla Educational Foundation (HRBEF) for scoring over 75 per cent marks in Board exams of 8th, 10th and 12th classes this year.
A handout stated that HRBEF has launched the annual ‘Sunanda Dua Memorial Awards’ from this year.
The children who received awards come from financially weaker families of rural area around Jammu.
The awards were distributed at a ceremony today at Bee Enn General Hospital Complex.
The Foundation is supporting education of children for the last 26 years and till date over 6000 scholarships have been given with a total outlay of above 200 lakh. This year scholarships are being given to 600 students from 70 villages.
The Managing Trustee, Kunil Bhalla remembered the vision ‘Educate a child: Change a life’ of the founders Roshan Lal Bhalla and Harbans Lal Bhalla.
Further, he informed that children aged 6 to 8 years from Government schools can join their scholarship program.
