JAMMU, Sept 13: Former Minister and Senior BJP leader Sukhnandan Choudhary has strongly condemned the National Conference (NC)-led Government’s continued negligence towards the farming community, citing its failure to provide urea fertilizer to farmers in time as a serious lapse.
Addressing the media today, Sukhnandan Choudhary expressed deep concern over the plight of thousands of farmers across the region who are facing severe difficulties due to the non-availability of Urea at the peak of the sowing season. He accused the Government of being completely indifferent to the needs of the agricultural sector, which forms the backbone of the Union Territory’s economy.
“The Government’s lack of planning and delay in supplying essential fertilizers is not just administrative failure but a betrayal of the hardworking farmers who rely on timely inputs for their livelihood,” Sukhnandan said.
The BJP leader further stated that while the Government is busy with political gimmicks, the real issues of the rural population are being ignored. He demanded that immediate steps be taken to ensure adequate and timely distribution of fertilizers, and that those responsible for the mismanagement be held accountable.
Sukhnandan also requested the Lt. Governor’s administration to intervene urgently and streamline the supply chain of fertilizers to prevent further damage to the ongoing agricultural season.
“Compensation must be provided to the farmers whose crops were damaged in recent flood and theirs loans such as KCC’s must be waived off,”he added.
