JAMMU, May 17: Former Minister, Ex-MLA Marh and Chairman, Panchyati Raj Cell, BJP JKUT, Sukhnandan Choudhary today called on, Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lt.Governor of JKUT, Manoj Sinha and apprised him about the acute shortages of gunny bags at almost all the procurement centers across the Jammu division due to which the farming community is suffering a lot.
He said that he had detailed discussion with the advisor and taking strong note of that he (the Advisor) had given on spot directions to concerned departments such as Agriculture Department and Food Corporation of India (FCI) to provide gunny bags to the procurement centers immediately.
He also convened schedule review meeting of both these departments tomorrow.
The departments swung into action and arranged immediate supply of gunny bags to some centers such as Gajansoo, Marh, Jourian, Bhadrore and Channu Chak on same day.
He also said that he has discussed the same problem with Divisional Commissioner Jammu and DC Jammu telephonically and they too assured that shortage of gunny bags will be overcome with in a short span of time.
On behalf of the farming community of the Jammu division he extended gratitude to the Advisor to LG for his quick action regarding the supply of gunny bags to the procurement centers .
Further former Minister also urged the Government to arrange to provide fertilizers (DAP, UREA) and paddy seeds such as 370 (Basmati), PHD 71 and 6444 as the paddy sowing season is coming, so that farming community can sow the paddy on time.
