JAMMU, Oct 6: As a part of Navratra Festival, All India Devotional Song Competition entered fourth day at Katra.
The fourth day of the competition began with lighting of the traditional lamp by Surinder Gupta, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range in presence of Sumir Kotwal, Additional SP Katra, Umesh Shan, Assistant Director Tourism, Ashok Sharma, DySP Katra, Mohit Raina Tehsildar Katra, Tilak Raj Deputy Commandant CRPF, Arvind Sambyal, SHO Katra, Chairman Devotional Song Committee Rakesh Wazir, Charan Dass AE Electrical Katra, besides members Navratra Festival Committee Shyam Lal Kesar, Sardari Lal Dubey and Virender Kesar at Yog Ashram Complex, Katra.
In the preliminary round of the competition as dominance of singers from Punjab State was seen wherein they clinched two out of three prizes. Sukhjinder Jeet from Amritsar was adjudged first, whereas the second position was bagged by Karuna from Jammu and third position was won by Mamta from Sunder Nagar Punjab. Cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 were presented to them respectively.
The competition was adjudged by the panels of experts in music including Dr Usha Bhagati, Ex HoD Music, MAM College Jammu, Dr CL Verma, Chairperson Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, Dr Surinder Sharma, HoD, Government College Shimla and HG Roy, a retiree from Sangeet Natak Academy New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Hassya Vayang, a mega laughter competition concluded. Deepak Pathania from Pathankote, Sonu Sharma from Katra and Anil Shingari from Jammu clinched first, second and third positions respectively. Cash prizes of Rs 11,000, Rs 7000 and Rs 3,000 were presented to them respectively.
Renowned TV comedian Minto was the special guest, while Aditya Bhanu, Devinder Thakur and Punjabi movies fame Teji Sandhu judged the show.
MoS Ajay Nanda and Owner of Shital Blankets Shital Vij were the chief guests on the occasion, while SDM Katra and SDM Akhnoor were the guest of honour.
President Hassya Vayang Dharun Kesar (DK) hosted the show, while general secretary Arun Sharma presented vote of thanks.
