JAMMU, July 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has relieved Dr Sunil Gupta from the post of IGP Crime J&K to enable him to take up new assignment outside the Union Territory, with effect from July 28.

Consequently, Sujit Kumar, currently serving as IGP Security J&K, has been given the additional charge of IGP Crime J&K until further orders.
Meanwhile, through another order, the Government has ordered the transfers and postings of two IPS and nine JKPS officers, while posting Vinod Kumar as DIG IRP Jammu and Sameer Sharma as DIG Armed Jammu.
“In pursuance to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India’s communication under reference, and the approval of competent authority, Dr Sunil Gupta, IGP Crime J&K, is hereby relieved from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with effect from July 28, 2025 to take up his new assignment,” read an order issued by Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department.
“Consequently, Sujit Kumar, IGP Security J&K, shall hold the charge of IGP Crime J&K, in addition to his own duties,” it said.
Another order said that Vinod Kumar, the 2011 batch IPS officer, currently serving as DIG Armed Jammu, has been transferred and posted as DIG IRP Jammu, against an available vacancy, while Sameer Sharma, the 2011 batch IPS officer, who was awaiting posting, has been posted as DIG Armed Jammu vice Vinod Kumar.
The order further said that Kulbir Singh, the 1999 batch JKPS officer, currently SSP Ramban, has been transferred and posted as Director, Commando Training Centre, Lethpora, against an available vacancy, Randeep Kumar, also a 1999 batch JKPS officer, currently SSP Security HQ, J&K, has been transferred and posted as SSP PTWS Jammu against an available vacancy, and Arun Gupta, the 2001 batch JKPS officer, currently SSP SB CID Jammu, has been transferred and posted as SSP Ramban vice Kulbir Singh.
Further, it has been ordered that Liaqat Ali, the 2001 batch JKPS officer, presently serving as SO to Commandant General HG/CD/SDRF, J&K, has been transferred and posted as SSP PTWS Kashmir against an available vacancy, Jameed Ahmad, also a 2001 batch JKPS officer, currently posted as Principal STC Sheeri, shall hold the charge of the post of Commandant IR-13, in addition to his own duties, and Mohammad Rafi Giri, the 2008 batch JKPS officer, presently Deputy CO, Second Border Battalion, has been transferred and posted as SO to Commandant General HG/SDRF/CD J&K vice Liaqat Ali.
Sunil Kumr Kesar, the 2011 batch JKPS officer, Additional SP (Ops) Doda, has been transferred and posted as Deputy CO, IR-15, against an available vacancy, Zahid Aziz Samoon, also a 2011 batch JKPS officer, currently DySP (Ops) Pulwama, has been transferred and posted as Deputy CO, IR-15, against an available vacancy, and Devinder Singh Bandral, the 2012 batch JKPS officer, currently Deputy CO IR-I, has been transferred and posted as Deputy CO IR-17 against an available vacancy.
