JAMMU, June 19: Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State (MoS), Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today said that Sufi shrines serve as beacons of hope, harmony and spiritual unity, transcending all social and communal barriers.
Speaking to the media at the revered shrine of Peer Baba Budhan Ali Shah, located near Jammu Airport, Dr Andrabi emphasized that such spiritual centres act as “bridges of humanity” and symbolize the inclusive ethos of Kashmir’s rich Sufi tradition. She was attending the Annual Urs of the saint, which witnessed the participation of a large number of devotees.
Dr Andrabi said that the Waqf Board has now become synonymous with relentless development and dedicated public service. “We are committed to ensuring that the journey of development continues with enhanced pace,” she asserted.
For the first time, the Waqf Board had created canopy-covered areas at the shrine complex to provide relief to devotees from the scorching heat. Dr Andrabi joined the special congregational prayers for global peace and prosperity and personally supervised the arrangements, including the Bhandara (community feast) and other facilities.
On the occasion, several public delegations met the Waqf Board Chairperson and discussed local issues and requirements related to shrine management and amenities.
