KATHUA, Aug 21: The students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua staged a demonstration and blocked road at Shaheedi Chowk disrupting movement of vehicular traffic in this busy area in protest against the lack of proper infrastructural facilities in the School and shortage of teaching staff.
The protesters raising slogans against the authorities said that the Education Department has totally ignored them and their education standard has been worst affected.
The protesters while criticizing the Government said on the one hand they are claiming of improving education standard and on the other the Government schools lack facilities. They said that notwithstanding the claims of the Government in this regard, the condition of Government run schools is deteriorating day by day forcing parents to shift their children to private educational institutions.
The protesters said the GGHS, Kathua besides facing the shortage of teachers and other staff affecting the education of students also has no proper class rooms and the Education Department never paid an attention to this effect.
Later DC Kathua, Ajay Jamwal , Additional DC, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed and CEO Kathua Balbir Singh visited the venue of protest and assured the students that they will look into their problem and take up the issue with concerned authorities for immediate redressal.
On this assurance the protesting students lifted the road blockade and dispersed.
