SUNDERBANI, Aug 1: The college students from Sunderbani under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held protest demonstration and blocked Jammu- Poonch highway for about an hour.
They were protesting against the State Education department and Jammu University. They were raising loud slogans against them authorities.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri , Mohd Aijaz Asad was on visit to Sunderbani in connection with the meeting for arrangements of Shri Baba Budha Amarnath Yatra.
A large number of students including male and female of GDC Sunderbani under the banner of ABVP and led by district president, Vishal Sharma and others blocked Jammu -Poonch highway. They also stalled the movement of the vehicle of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri.
They were demanding to sanction Medical subjects in Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani. They alleged that their college was being ignored by the Higher Education Department. They have sanctioned Medical subjects in 14 Degree Colleges recently.
Students gave a memorandum to DC Rajouri and then he discussed the issue with the secretary of Higher Education by Department on phone. Then the highway was opened by students.
